Welcome NC, January 31, 2003. Transmode Systems and Walker and Associates have entered into an agreement under which Walker and Associates will market, resell and support CWDM optical systems from Transmode Systems throughout the US.

Transmode Systems AB manufactures products based on Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM), a technology for sending multiple channels over a single fiber. The technology has been adopted by Enterprises and Service Providers as a low-cost, robust and flexible alternative to DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing).

"The growing popularity of CWDM is based on deployment costs in the metro markets and the evolving efficiencies with the technology," according to Hal Sveum, Vice President and General Manager for Walker & Associates, Inc. "Customers are telling Walker that the DWDM solutions they are evaluating for deployment are cost-prohibitive and they are looking for more cost-effective ways to achieve their bandwidth requirements. DWDM is the embedded technology, but if utilizing CWDM can reduce the cost per channel to one third without sacrificing performance then CWDM will continue to win over customers and take market share."

"This is the natural next step for Transmode as we continue to penetrate the US market", says Isaac Olasoko, CEO of Transmode Systems. "Ever since Stealth Communications placed their first order with us in late 2001, we have seen rapidly growing interest from the US. The existing customer base we now have is an excellent foundation for the collaboration with Walker and Associates to build on. We have put a lot of effort into finding the right partner for this and are very excited about the agreement."
