An f/1.0, 10.6-mm focal length longwave infrared (LWIR) lens assembly has been designed for uncooled IR sensors. The assembly integrates Black Diamond molded chalcogenide IR lenses, a substitute for high-volume diamond-turned germanium and zinc selenide optics that provides natural athermalization for temperature stability from 25° to 75°C. This specific design gives a 52° field of view when paired with a 10 mm sensor with a 25 μm pixel pitch.
