TeraXion dispersion compensator supports low-latency services in DWDM

Feb. 25, 2011
The ClearSpectrum-DCML fixed dispersion-compensation module is designed for high-speed DWDM networks that have to support low-latency services.

The ClearSpectrum-DCML fixed dispersion-compensation module is designed for high-speed DWDM networks that have to support low-latency services. It exhibits latency of less than 25 ns, and a 50 or 100 GHz channel grid. It measures 162 × 20 × 9 mm and is slope-matched to G.652 or G.655 fibers.

PRESS RELEASE

TeraXion launches low-latency dispersion compensator at ECOC 2010

QUEBEC CITY, CANADA, September 15, 2010 - TeraXion Inc., a provider of leading-edge photonic solutions that enable today and tomorrow’s communications networks, proudly announces the introduction of the ClearSpectrumTM-DCML, offering the market’s lowest latency for a fixed dispersion compensation module.
The latest addition to TeraXion’s Fixed Dispersion Compensators product suite, the ClearSpectrumTM-DCML is perfectly suited for high-speed DWDM networks that have to support low-latency services. “With the current trend driven by financial services, our established FBG-based technology appears to be a necessity with its inherent low-latency below 25 ns. I strongly believe that with latency a thousand times smaller than the alternative DCF, the ClearSpectrumTM-DCML will provide a decisive competitive edge for system vendors” said Martin Guy, Vice-President of Product Management and Technology at TeraXion.

Based on the fact that 50 GHz channel spacing and low flat insertion loss are now available in an 80% smaller footprint than DCF (Dispersion Compensating Fiber), the ClearSpectrumTM – DCML is clearly the most efficient and reliable solution for fixed dispersion compensation. Moreover, amplification requirements can now be minimized in cost-sensitive networks needing a plug-and-play solution.

The ClearSpectrumTM-DCML will be on display from September 20 to 22nd at the ECOC 2010 exhibition in Torino, Italy, booth # 420.
