PRESS RELEASE

Popular Semrock Fluorescence Filter Sets Now Offer Enhanced Performance

ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 28, 2010 – Semrock has substantially improved the performance of twenty-seven of its most popular BrightLine® fluorescence filter sets by launching enhanced versions of the dichroic beamsplitters in used these sets. Filter sets were rolled out for use with DAPI, GFP, FITC, mCherry, Texas Red, and many other fluorophores as well as sets optimized for FRET, FISH, and Qdots.

The improved dichroics offer extended reflection and transmission bands – each dichroic reflects light from the long-pass edge down to ultraviolet wavelengths (< 350 nm) and transmits light from the edge up to infrared wavelengths (> 950 nm). The extended bands enable new applications based on mechanisms such as photoactivation and photoswitching, fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), and very large Stokes-shift fluorescence. Also, every dichroic now has an anti-reflection (AR) coating providing a guaranteed minimum average transmission (from 90% to) of 93% – typical transmission values are even higher. And with the steepest edges on the market and reflectivity > 98%, these dichroics offer the most efficient management of light in even the lowest-light-level experiments.

Filter set pricing remains unchanged with the new higher-performance dichroics. Four recently released “High Performance” / “High Contrast” filter sets for GFP and for FITC also use the enhanced dichroics, as do three new long-pass sets for DAPI, GFP and mCherry.

Semrock’s industry-leading and proprietary hard-coated filter manufacturing process ensures permanent performance with “no burn-out” even under the most intense illumination conditions. Semrock filters are available from stock for same-day shipment with a 30-day no-hassle return policy and are covered under the company’s five-year warranty. Custom-sized filters are available in under a week.
