Excelitas LED Center of Excellence finds home in China

Waltham, MA--Excelitas Technologies opened a new light-emitting diode (LED) Center of Excellence at its facility in Shenzhen, PR of China.

Waltham, MA--Lighting and analytical instrumentation company Excelitas Technologies, previously the Illumination and Detection Solutions (IDS) business unit of PerkinElmer, opened a new light-emitting diode (LED) Center of Excellence at its facility in Shenzhen, People's Republic of China. The new site will serve as a base for Excelitas Technologies to develop and manufacture advanced LED-based lighting solutions and to showcase its innovations and technologies to LED customers in China.

At the Center of Excellence, Excelitas Technologies will focus on helping customers accelerate innovative and energy-efficient LED -based lighting designs for a variety of different markets, including surgical and dental lighting, hazardous area lighting, signaling, aerospace lighting, and more. As the government and an increasing number of companies in China are expected to continue investing heavily in LED-based manufacturing products and equipment, the Center of Excellence provides the local resources necessary to meet this increased demand.

"The development of the LED industry in China is undergoing dramatic growth and has accelerated rapidly over the past few years," said Li Min, Site Leader, Excelitas Technologies Shenzhen Co., Ltd. "Increased domestic demand and government interest in LED technology has created significant business opportunities and an expanded market for LED-based products in China."

Excelitas has ISO-certified component and subsystem design and manufacturing sites in the U.S., Europe and Asia, including dedicated LED-based design and manufacturing facilities in Wheeling, IL, USA and Pfaffenhofen, Germany. Excelitas Technologies has approximately 3,000 employees in North America, Europe and Asia, serving customers across the world. The company is now owned by Veritas Capital.
