Eagleyard Photonics high-power single-mode laser diode features 808 nm center wavelength
A high-power, single-mode Fabry-Perot laser diode features a center wavelength of 808 nm and a typical spectral linewidth around 1 nm. With an emitter facet width of 4 μm, the semiconductor laser emits 800 mW of optical power in a TEM00 beam. The standard diode is available on a C-mount heat sink; a fiber-pigtailed version is planned for later release, with expected 830 nm wavelength.

PRESS RELEASE
TEM00 goes 800mW
Berlin/Germany, 20th May 2011: eagleyard Photonics, a leading supplier of semiconductor laser diodes, announced today the release of a new, high-power laser diode with single mode output.
eagleyard’s latest product innovation comes with the release of a new high power, single mode, Fabry Perot laser diode with a center wavelength of 808nm and a typical spectral linewidth of around 1nm. With an emitter facet width of just 4µm, the new laser diode emits 800mW of optical power in a TEM00 beam, thus enabling both high power and high brilliance from a single semiconductor laser.
The new laser diode has already completed lifetime performance tests under accelerated conditions (1000mW) and over 750 hours with excellent results. A 1W configuration (also single mode) has additionally completed testing by one of eagleyard’s lead customers.
According to Michael Kneier, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at eagleyard, “We have seen a marked increase in customer demand for high brilliance laser diodes. Our new laser diode is designed to address these demands, all without sacrificing beam quality and usability in a high-end optical measurement set-up. We can expect to see even more performance out of this ridge waveguide configuration after thorough testing is completed.”
The laser diode is available as standard on a C-mount heat sink, all product specifications have been finalised and engineering samples can be ordered immediately. A fiber-pigtailed version is planned for later in 2011, with additional wavelength (e.g. 830nm) to follow. Detailed specifications are available on the eagleyard website.
The optical performance provided by the new laser diode makes it ideal for laser scanning and other optical measurement applications, in particular where an optimum beam quality at high power is critical.
eagleyard will be exhibiting at the LASER show in Munich from 23rd to 26th May 2011 (Hall B1, Booth 301).
