Aerotech has introduced a motion control industrial computer option for its Automation 3200 Multi-Axis Machine Controller. The A3200 Automation Controller provides a rugged, compact panel-mount or rack-mount (1U or 4U) computer designed for industrial environments. Its easy front and top connections simplify installation with panel-mount devices, while the compact 183 mm x 183 mm x 70 mm enclosure is a convenient space-saving package. A variety of optional peripherals can enhance operation including FireWire® ports, USB and serial ports, dual Ethernet and solid-state storage.

Designed for 24/7 demanding environments, the A3200 Automation Controller includes active cooling, full functionality on a single PCB, optional SSD and advanced motherboard watchdog technology. The mounting feet can be rotated to maximize panel space. Standard features include 2.0 GHz processor, 2G DDR2 RAM, 160 GB SATA HD or SSD, 12 VDC or 120 VAC power adapter, audio, integrated graphics and dual Ethernet. A Windows® XP PRO or Windows® 7 operating system is standard.

Aerotech’s ground-breaking motion, vision, PLC, robotics and I/O platform, the Automation 3200 Multi-Axis Machine Controller (A3200), is used in many applications in semiconductor, data storage, medical laser processing, automotive and machine tool industries. The system features a high-performance, software-only motion controller that offers 32 axes of synchronized motion control. The advanced, high-performance distributed control architecture produces a truly state-of-the-art motion, vision, PLC, robotics and I/O platform.

The A3200 represents a revolutionary advancement over traditional PC-bus-based motion controllers. The A3200 is software-based (no PC slots required) and marries a robust, high performance motion engine with vision, PLC, robotics and I/O in one unified programming environment. The A3200 utilizes distributed control architecture and the industry standard FireWire® network to provide from 1 to 32 axes of synchronized control with no degradation in performance as the axis count increases. The integration of multiple common automation tools into a single platform provides users the ability to integrate, develop and maintain the system faster with lower cost than ever before.
