Hyperbolic optics, otherwise known as hyperboloids, are available in sizes up to 500 mm in diameter, with typical wavefront error of λ/20 P-V, surface finish of 10/5, and microroughness less than 1.2 nm root-mean-square (RMS). The optics are available in mounted or unmounted versions, all with application-specific coatings. Typical uses are in optical telescope systems, having been used in deep space and Earth observation satellites such as BNSC's TopSat, NASA's Swift explorer, and ESA's XMM and NigeriaSAT-2.
