Santec wavelength-selective switch supports single slot line-card integration

Nov. 14, 2012
The 1 × 2 and 1 × 4 wavelength-selective switch (WSS) is based on liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCoS) technology.

The 1 × 2 and 1 × 4 wavelength-selective switch (WSS) is based on liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCoS) technology. The WSS supports both ITU-T 50 GHz fixed grid 96 channels and flexible grid (gridless) in a 6.25 GHz increment and 12.5 GHz frequency slice, for a single slot line-card integration. The modules are suited for next-generation reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs).

PRESS RELEASE

SANTEC offers 1x2&1x4 flexible grid Wavelength Selective Switches (WSS) for single slot line-card integration

SANTEC, a leading design and manufacturer of tunable lasers, optical instruments, OCT products, and fiber-optic components, has introduced the 1x2&1x4 WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch) based on LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology. The WSS supports both of ITU-T 50GHz fixed grid 96 channels and flexible grid (gridless) in a 6.25GHz increment and 12.5GHz frequency slice for a single slot line-card integration. The WSS modules have been specially designed for compact, fast response, and low power consumption.

SANTEC’s WSS has many advantages for next generation ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer)” said Dr. Noboru Uehara, department manager of R&D of SANTEC. “We are extremely pleased with the advantages of LCOS technology in our WSS which provides software-oriented flexible and intelligent solutions for our customers.”

Santec Corporation was established in 1979. It is headquartered in Komaki, Japan and has subsidiaries in America (Santec U.S.A. Corporation) and China (Santec (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.).
