Stuttgart, Germany--For the 25th year, the annual VISION show demonstrated that it is the leading venue for machine vision products and technologies. Held November 6-8, 2012 it attracted over 7,000 visitors, or about the same as the previous year. Thirty six percent of these visitors came from abroad.
For the first time, all 372 exhibitors were combined in the one hall. Half the exhibitors came from outside of Germany and displayed a multitude of components and systems, e.g. machine vision cameras, vision sensors, frame grabbers, software tools, illumination systems, lenses, accessories, and complete systems and applications.
The 'Medical Discovery Tour' was held this year for the second time, with 38 exhibitors presenting goods and services targeted at medical technology. Also of note, an increasing number of visitors expressed an interest in turnkey machine vision systems.
The VDMA Technology Days were another new feature. Under the motto Research Meets Industry, 11 research institutions from several countries presented research projects with great application and market potential. "The innovations demonstrated in this event will lead to improvements in production in many different industries or ensure far more comfort for people in their everyday lives," said Thomas Walter, Head of the Industry & Technology Competence Team at Messe Stuttgart.
