Ontario, NY--Optimax has completed the third and final phase of a $10 million optical coating facility project that has created more than 50 jobs. The new 4,000-sq-ft coating expansion houses eight optical coating chambers and three environmental testing chambers, and can manufacture optical coatings for wavelengths from 193 to 6000 nm and diameters up to 500 mm.

Rick Plympton, CEO of Optimax, says the company now has the capability to precision clean, coat, and test optics and to offer deep UV through mid-IR coatings, high-laser-damage threshold coatings for pulsed and CW applications, uniform coatings for fast surfaces and large diameters, shift-free coatings, and low coating stress for improved wavefront control.
