AFL to display laser splicing system, fusion splicer at SPIE Photonics West 2014

Jan. 24, 2014
AFL will display a laser splicing system and a fusion splicer at SPIE Photonics West 2014.

The LZM-100 LAZERMaster is a glass processing and splicing system that uses a CO2 laser heat source to eliminate electrode or filament maintenance. It performs splicing or adiabatic tapering with glass diameters of 2.3 mm or more. A high-resolution optical analysis system works in conjunction with on-board firmware for fully automatic splicing, tapering, and other glass shaping processes.

The Fujikura 70S fusion splicer features a user-programmable, automated wind protector to expedites the splicing process by automatically closing to initiate the process and opening upon completion. An automated “clamshell design” tube heater applies heat to both sides of the splice protection sleeve, resulting in a 14 s shrink time. Total splice process time is ~21 s.SPIE Photonics West booth number: 115To Learn More:Contact:AFLHeadquarters: Duncan, SCProduct: LZM-100 LAZERMaster laser splicing system and Fujikura 70S fusion splicerKey Features: LZM-100 LAZERMaster: CO2 laser heat source; Fujikura 70S: ~21 s total splice time
