Jan. 17, 2014
Multi-Pixel Photon Counters (MPPCs) have uses in compact instrumentation for low-light detection.

Multi-Pixel Photon Counters (MPPCs) have uses in compact instrumentation for low-light detection. A type of silicon photomultiplier, the MPPCs operate at low voltage and with a simple readout circuit. Features include high signal-to-noise ratio, high photon detection efficiency, low crosstalk, and low afterpulsing. Various active area sizes, arrays, and modules are available.
