Ocean Optics to showcase handheld Raman, NIR spectrometers at SPIE DSS 2014

April 17, 2014
The IDRaman mini handheld Raman spectrometer has uses in sample authentication and counterfeit detection, identification, and verification, and the NIRQuest near-infrared (NIR) spectrometers cover various ranges from 800 to 2500 nm, depending upon application.
The IDRaman mini handheld Raman spectrometer has uses in sample authentication and counterfeit detection, identification, and verification. A Raster Orbital Scanning (ROS) mode scans a tightly focused beam over a wide liquid or solid sample area with low average power, eliminating sample damage and possible ignition of explosive samples. In ROS mode, most compounds can be identified in <9 s. Sampling can be accomplished using either small vials or with a stand-off accessory for powders, residues, and solid samples.

NIRQuest near-infrared (NIR) spectrometers cover various ranges from 800 to 2500 nm, depending upon application, and have uses in applications ranging from moisture detection and chemical analysis to high-resolution laser and optical fiber characterization. Features include low-noise optoelectronics, a range of grating and bench options, and triggering functions for accurate timing and synchronization between the spectrometer and other devices.
