New Wegapixel division of Specialised Imaging to focus on CMOS imaging sensors

Oct. 31, 2016
Specialised Imaging has formed a new division, Wegapixel, focusing on the design and development of advanced CMOS imaging sensors.

Specialised Imaging (Tring, England) has formed a new division, Wegapixel, focusing on the design and development of advanced CMOS imaging sensors. The new division has been set up as a turnkey provider of custom CMOS image sensors. In addition to conventional imager design, the company says it brings together unique expertise in applications such as high speed imaging, electron microscopy, X-ray digital imaging, and UV and IR imaging.

Renato Turchetta, CEO of Wegapixel, said, “We have the expertise, experience, and capabilities to support companies on projects or product developments requiring high performance image sensors. Wegapixel is able to offer customers a range of services from CMOS sensor specification, definition, and design through to full management of production and interacting with manufacturing facilities.”

He added, “Being part of Specialised Imaging provides us with the financial support and global reach to enable expansion of our advanced CMOS imaging sensor business. Wegapixel will be maintained as a standalone business, setting up its own relationship with its distinct customer base.”
