LIMO to showcase beam transformation system at SPIE Photonics West 2017

Jan. 16, 2017
A high-power beam transformation system (BTS) is produced from fused silica with minimal oxygen-hydrogen bonds for use in high-performance laser systems with outputs over 10 kW.

A high-power beam transformation system (BTS) is produced from fused silica with minimal oxygen-hydrogen bonds for use in high-performance laser systems with outputs over 10 kW for hardening, additive manufacturing, cutting, and welding applications, among others. The BTS can be used to couple laser light into a circular fiber and produce a free laser beam, and comprises the company's FAC160 fast-axis collimator and a diagonal lens array for a 90° rotation of the laser beam. Preassembled on a glass block (bottom tab) for easier handling and with a pitch of 200 or 400 µm, the system is capable of coupling up to 50 emitters with an output of approximately 250 to 500 W per bar and a 50% fill factor.
