SPI Lasers sells lamp-pumped Nd:YAG laser business to TJS

Jan. 27, 2017
Move was made so that SPI could better concentrate on fiber lasers.

As of 1st March 2017, pulsed and continuous-wave (CW) fiber-laser maker SPI Lasers (Southampton, England) is to have completed the sale of its lamp-pumped Nd:YAG service and support business to TJS (Denville, NJ), which supplies laser systems, laser flashlamps, components, service, and repair to the laser market.

In 2008, SPI Lasers itself was acquired by TRUMPF (Ditzingen, Germany); by 2015, SPI Lasers' own pulsed lamp-pumped solid-state laser products had been transitioned to TRUMPF.

SPI Lasers says that the lamp-pumped Nd:YAG service and support business, purchased during its acquisition of JK Lasers back in 2015, no longer fits with the fiber-laser-focused goals of the company and is being sold to ensure these goals remain a priority, as well as simultaneously ensuring that a high level of customer service and support is maintained for owners of JK/SPI lamp-pumped Nd:YAG lasers.

TJS has a manufacturing and technical facility in Sanford, FL from which it will provide technical support, consumable components, service, and repairs for the JK/SPI lamp-pumped lasers.
