OIDA announces Photonic Integration Forum
August 13, 2008--The Optoelectronic Industry Development Association (OIDA; Washington, DC) has announced a new Photonic Integration Forum to be held October 6-7, 2008 in Monterey, CA. Photonic integration is widely regarded as the optical industry's best hope for scaling to meet future bandwidth requirements while similarly reducing cost per bit.
The forum will explore the breadth and depth of developments in the area of photonic integration, and will provide detailed insights on industry status and direction across a wide range of technology implementations and industry applications.
Major topics include photonic integration for telecom applications: photonic integrated circuits (PICs) in fiber optical transport networks; photonic integration for data center and computer interconnect applications; and an industry panel on the roadmap for integrated photonic technology development and commercialization.
