• Renishaw unveils new StreamLine Plus Raman imaging system
  August 18, 2008--StreamLine Plus, unveiled at ICORS 2008, is ten times faster thanks to optimization of software, detector hardware, and a new MS10 high-speed microscope stage.
• Edmund Optics releases family of ultrafast laser mirrors
  August 12, 2008--Edmund Optics released its ultrafast Ti:sapphire laser mirrors to keep your pulses together with flat group velocity dispersion curves centered around 800 nm and flat over the 700-900 nm range. The mirrors are available in 12.7 and 25.4mm diameters, 6.35mm thick, with a 10-5 surface quality, and surface accuracy of 1/10 wave.
• New lasers from Powerlase address display manufacturing and solar-cell processing
  July 31, 2008--Powerlase (Crawley, England), manufacturer of nanosecond Q-switched, diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers, introduced a new range of green lasers, the Starlase 100G and Starlase 200G, that are designed for specific applications including solar-cell processing and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) flat-panel display manufacture.
• New optical tweezers can use existing microscopes
  July 30, 2008--Elliot Scientific has added new systems to its range of optical tweezers; the new systems offer the ability to retrofit existing microscopes and bring optical tweezing into the lab at an affordable price, says the company.

  July 17, 2008--Reynard Corporation, a global supplier of optical components and thin-film coatings, announces galvanometer mirrors with high-precision coatings appropriate for demanding commercial and military applications.
• High-speed cameras selected for slow-motion imaging at Beijing Summer 2008 Olympics
  July 2, 2008--Photron (San Diego, CA) has been chosen to provide the high-speed cameras for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
• New interferometer measures extreme aspheres without using null optics
  June 25, 2008--QED Technologies (Rochester, NY) has just released a new version of its interferometer that is capable of full-aperture measurement of aspheres with more than 200 waves (120 microns) of departure from the best-fit sphere, without the use of null lenses.
• Vision Components introduces new single-board intelligent camera
  June 23, 2008--The 5 megapixel VCSBC4012 single-board smart camera for industrial applications features a CMOS sensor with a resolution of 2595 x 1944 pixels.
