Ross Optical to showcase super-polishing capability for optics at SPIE Photonics West 2018

Jan. 12, 2018
A super-polishing capability for optics can produce extremely smooth surfaces on windows, mirrors, and other flat optics of various sizes, thicknesses, and materials.

A super-polishing capability for optics can produce extremely smooth surfaces on windows, mirrors, and other flat optics of various sizes (5–300 mm diameter), thicknesses (0.50–30 mm), and materials (fused silica, silicon, Zerodur, visible materials). Surface quality of 10-5 and surface roughness of <1 Å (0.1 nm) are attainable. Super-polished surfaces are important for medical imaging, telescope instruments, and other applications where reduced light scattering is desired.
