Basler AG (Ahrensburg, Germany), a large manufacturer of industrial cameras and accesories such as lenses, has signed a venture agreement with its distributor, Beijing Sanbao Xingye (MVLZ) Image Tech (Beijing, China). The result will be a Machine Vision division in Beijing with management staffed by employees of both companies; the new outfit is called Basler Vision Technology China.

Beijing Sanbao Xingye has been Basler's distribution partner in China for close to twenty years; the company distributes image-processing components and consults its customers in machine vision and scientific imaging. Its Machine Vision division will be moved to the newly established Beijing-based Basler China, with branch offices in Shenzhen and Shanghai.

China increasingly important to Basler
According to Basler, the founding of Basler Vision Technology China brings the manufacturer and its customers closer together; these stronger ties will allow Basler to increasingly gear its offerings to local requirements in the future, as well as to offer an improved supply chain and increased flexibility. Basler will benefit from Sanbao Xingye's Chinese market insight.

Asia (and especially China) is a strategic growth region for Basler, according to the company.
