Measurement Software Makes Aven's HD Camera an All-in-One Tool

ANN ARBOR, MI – Feb. 16, 2011 -- Precise, immediate measurement of parts is simplified with Aven's new HD microscopy camera with built-in calibration software. The 1.3-megapixel color inspection camera, one of two C-mount models introduced by the optical instruments manufacturer, connects directly to a monitor via a VGA cable -- eliminating the need for a PC to see and save video or freeze-frame images.

"This versatile system allows full-function measurement and imaging while saving bench space and hardware costs," says Mike Shahpurwala, president of Aven, Inc., a global distributor based in Michigan. "It's also practical for magnified video inspection."

Aven's all-in-one system records linear, circular or angular measurements in millimeters or inches, as well as a radius or between parallel lines.

Point-and-click measurement data and images can be saved on a built-in SD card for easy access. The screen pointer, controlled via a PS2 mouse attachment, can be set as a full-screen crosshair or small center crosshair.

Features also include edge detection, individually adjustable RGB values, variable pointer color, automatic exposure and manual or automatic white balance.

Second VGA System
Aven's second new high-definition microscopy accessory is designed for applications that don't require on-screen measurement. This 1.3-megapixel VGA camera also has an SD memory card and a VGA connection for a PC monitor.

Screen menus control RGB values, white balance and auto exposure. Four vertical and four horizontal crosshair grid settings are available.

Each model has a 1/2.5 CMOS sensor and records 30 frames per second at 1440 x 900 resolution.

Both are ideal for QC checks of incoming parts, assembly samples, electronics fabrication, biotechnology research, medical lab work and science education.
