Scientific instruments maker FEI (Hillsboro, OR) launched its Living Lab for Structural Biology during an event on the National Institutes of Health (NIH; Bethesda, MD) campus on May 23.

The Living Lab's research program includes participation from scientists Dr. Sriram Subramaniam, director of the NIH component of the Living Lab, with expertise in cryo-electron microscopy and tomography; Drs. Adriaan Bax and G. Marius Clore, who specialize in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy; Drs. Fred Dyda and Alex Wlodawer, experts in x-ray crystallography; and Drs. Suresh Ambudkar and Stuart Le Grice, whose focus is on biochemistry. The program is expected to help accelerate important medical discoveries relevant to global health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, diabetes, and cancer.
