Soft tissue probe performs in vivo imaging of oral and gynecological tissue
May 27, 2010
Michelson Diagnostics' (MDL; Orpington, UK) VivoSight Multi-Beam optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging system allows in vivo imaging of oral and gynecological tissue. It provides sub-surface cross-sectional images at 7.5 µm lateral resolution, surpassing ultrasound, CT, MRI, and confocal microscopy. The probe is 9 cm long and provides both 2- and 3-D images over a 5 x 5 mm area. For sterile applications, the probe is used with a disposable transparent sheath that covers the probe, handle, and upper connecting cable.
