Wearable light therapy device for hair loss receives regulatory approval in Brazil

The iGrow hair growth system, a wearable low-level light therapy device for treating hair loss, is cleared for use in Brazil.

Apira Science (Boca Raton, FL) has received clearance to sell and distribute its iGrow hair growth system, a wearable low-level light therapy (LLLT) device for treating hair loss at home, in Brazil. The device is cleared by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária, or ANVISA), the Brazilian regulatory agency. The company will distribute the device in Brazil in partnership with dermatology products distributor Onderma (Belo Horizonte, Brazil).

In clinical studies, the system's patented red light technology—which combines a red laser and LED diodes—increased hair growth 37% after 16 weeks of therapy.

The system is also cleared for use in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Korea, Singapore, and China. It is available to consumers in all 28 European Union nations, Turkey, India, and the UK.
