Zolar Technology & Mfg. Co. showed its ZOLAR-Photon series soft-tissue diode dental lasers at the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) meeting held September 28 through October 2, 2013, in Philadelphia, PA, falling on the heels of being awarded FDA approval for commercialization in the U.S.

Zolar Technology & Mfg. Co. (Mississauga, ON, Canada) showed its ZOLAR-Photon series soft-tissue diode dental lasers at the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) meeting held September 28 through October 2, 2013, in Philadelphia, PA, falling on the heels of being awarded FDA approval for commercialization in the U.S. The company displayed its Photon and Photon plus models, which resulted in multiple sales orders from attendees, according to Zolar executive officer Paul Atkins.

The company also has entered into an exclusive distributorship with Oral Science (Brossard, QC, Canada) to market the lasers in Canada, Atkins says.

The 3 W, 810 nm Photon and 10 W, 980 nm Photon plus lasers offer more than 20 adjustable pre-set treatment programs and multiple custom programs (the Photon plus model offers a bleaching ability). Soft-tissue surgical utilities include fibroma removal, frenectomies, troughing, succular debridement, and highly inflamed edematous tissue removal.

The company will also show the lasers at the 89th Annual Greater New York Dental Meeting, to be held November 29 through December 4, 2013, in New York City.
