BD Biosciences' reagent and dye expansion program launches with flow cytometry antibodies for cell analysis

AUGUST 17, 2009--BD Biosciences (San Jose, CA), a segment of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has launched its BD Kaleidoscope reagent and dye expansion program with the release of nearly 200 new fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies for multicolor flow cytometry. The 200 new products represent "simply the beginning of our significant portfolio expansion designed to support the growing base of applications that can benefit from this powerful technology," the company says.

AUGUST 17, 2009--BD Biosciences (San Jose, CA), a segment of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has launched its BD Kaleidoscope reagent and dye expansion program with the release of nearly 200 new fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies for multicolor flow cytometry. "These 200 new products from the BD Kaleidoscope program represent simply the beginning of our significant portfolio expansion designed to support the growing base of applications that can benefit from this powerful technology," said BD Biosciences' president for cell analysis, Jay Glasscock.

"Multicolor flow cytometry empowers researchers who are conducting complex experiments to analyze multiple parameters simultaneously, enhancing discovery and problem solving by providing them with a wealth of information in a single experiment," he added.

The BD Kaleidoscope portfolio offers the new fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies in a full range of colors, which the company says will make it easier to construct multicolor cocktails to obtain fluorescently separated cell populations more efficiently. In addition, researchers can choose from a wide range of sizes, such as the new 50 test/50 mg size to reduce the cost of initial panel design and testing. The new BD reagents, like others in the BD Biosciences portfolio, are optimized for use with BD flow cytometry systems.

Last month, BD Biosciences made another splash in the flow cytometry market.
During the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) Annual Meeting (July 8-11; Barcelona, Spain), the company presented data highlighting two novel flow cytometry-based sorting and analysis methods for neural and embryonic stem cell research. The presentations, said BD, further validate the viability of tools used for separating near-pure populations of stem cell-derived neurons from undifferentiated stem cells and show improved cell recovery and survival of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) after cell sorting.
