PRESS RELEASE

New, compact, singlemode, polarised fiber array, kineFLEX-Hydra, is a breakthrough for equipment manufacturers

  • Singlemode polarisation maintaining fibers for precise beam delivery
  • Closed system for very high reliability and reproducibility
  • Miniaturized footprint

Munich, Germany, May 23 2011 — Qioptiq has chosen LASER World of PHOTONICS 2011 to unveil its new kineFLEX-Hydra, a compact, robust, singlemode and polarisation maintaining red/green/blue (RGB) fiber array.

kineFLEX-Hydra is a breakthrough for manufacturers developing next generation flow cytometry and metrology equipment. Costing not much more than traditional exposed-beam assemblies, the new system is more robust, more reliable and significantly smaller.

Designed and built at Qioptiq’s world-leading facility in Hamble, UK, kineFLEX-Hydra uses high quality singlemode and linearly polarised fibers, permanently aligned in a closed system for very high reliability. The standard system couples Red (640nm), Green (515nm) and Blue (488nm), but other wavelengths are also available to order.

kineFLEX-Hydra can be supplied on its own, or complete with Qioptiq’s new compact iFLEX-Hydra laser system. Qioptiq’s multiple output iFLEX-Hydra system is a high quality, cost-effective, compact alternative to several individual lasers. The combination of the iFLEX-Hydra with the kineFLEX-Hydra offers equipment manufacturers a small, powerful platform for development of next-generation instruments in cytometry, metrology and screening applications.

kineFLEX-Hydra and iFLEX-Hydra are the latest in a long line of world-leading, cutting-edge laser and fiber solutions from Qioptiq. Further information is available from Booth B1.107 at LASER World of PHOTONICS, Munich, or by contacting [email protected].
