Digilab, Insion enter U.S. distribution agreement for single-chip microspectrometers
Sample prep and analysis tools developer Digilab (Marlborough, MA) and miniaturized spectral sensors maker Insion (Heilbronn, Germany) have entered into an agreement in which Digilab now has exclusive U.S. distribution rights for Insion's ultraviolet/visible (UV/VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) microspectrometers. The single-chip spectrometers are small and robust enough to fit into smartphone-driven point-of-care devices such as home hemoglobin testing devices.
John Moore, president and COO of Digilab, explains that Insion's microspectrometers bring the spectral sensor to the sample to avoid or reduce sampling errors, eliminate disturbances in the optical signal path, and deliver analytical data instantly. Operating in the 350–1700nm wavelength range, the microspectometers feature spectral resolution <10 nm (UV/VIS) and <16 nm FWHM (NIR).
