Submillimeter optical prisms with dimensions to 0.20 mm from Bern Optics, Inc. (Westfield, MA) can be custom-engineered, ground and polished in a variety of difficult configurations, including optical wedges of any given angle, beam splitter cubes, parallel plates and custom configurations with combinations of plano, spherical or cylindrical faces. Created from optical and filter glasses with minimal edge chipping, these microscopic elements are used in laparoscopic and endoscopic medical devices, as well as in a variety of instrumentation requiring extremely precise optical components. All prisms can feature custom-designed reflective and anti-reflection coatings as an option.
