Laser chips integrate into IR diode laser to aid prenatal diagnosis

Nov. 6, 2012
Laser chips from optical components provider 3SPGroup have helped the birth of more than 100,000 children around the world: since 1996, the company has been providing its 1480 nm chips to OCTAX Microscience, which supplies next-generation micro-treatment and visualization/imaging technologies.

Laser chips from optical components provider 3SPGroup (Nozay, France) have helped the birth of more than 100,000 children around the world: since 1996, the company has been providing its 1480 nm chips to OCTAX Microscience GmbH (Bruckberg, Germany), which supplies next-generation micro-treatment and visualization/imaging technologies.

The chips directly integrate into a laser, such as the OCTAX Laser Shot IR diode laser, used for prenatal diagnosis by biopsy, to avoid complications related to difficult pregnancies. The laser enables assisted hatching and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, replacing mechanical or chemical methods.
