This month caps a series of outreach programs and meetings by members of the National Photonics Initiative (NPI).

1. Regional meetings were held that included numerous photonics clusters or groups and their local congressional representatives:

2. And over 30 members of SPIE and OSA visited more than 45 congressional offices in Washington DC to bring enlightenment to Congress:

Conard Holton has 25 years of science and technology editing and writing experience. He was formerly a staff member and consultant for government agencies such as the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the International Atomic Energy Agency, and engineering companies such as Bechtel.
