EMCCD cameras have use in low-light imaging for the life sciences

April 27, 2021
Back-illuminated Evolve EMCCD camera models with pixel sizes of 10, 13, and 16 μm provide sensitivity with >95% quantum efficiency.

Back-illuminated Evolve EMCCD camera models with pixel sizes of 10, 13, and 16 μm provide sensitivity with >95% quantum efficiency for low-light applications in life sciences, including single-molecule imaging and total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy. Electron multiplication is used to achieve read noise of 0.25 e- and full-frame imaging rates up to 61 fps with frame rates >4000 fps.
