Photodiode maker arrives solidly in the black
Avalanche Photonix Inc. (API; Camarillo, CA) has reported its fourth consecutive profitable quarter--marking the first profitable year in the company`s history. The manufacturer of large-area avalanche photodiodes (LAAPD) reported revenues of $2 million for the first quarter ended June 28, an increase of 32% over the first quarter of last year. Net income rose to $122,000 compared with a net loss of $203,000 in last year`s first quarter. The company is preparing to formally launch a new LAAPD marketing campaign to target market segments that it believes are currently underutilizing photo multiplier tubes.
