A high-power infrared LED is designed for machine-vision applications as an illuminator for CCD cameras, industrial controls, and high-performance smoke detectors. The Model OD-50 W GaAlAs LED has peak emission at 880 nm and typical output of 75 mW at a drive current of 500 mA dc. The LED comes in a TO-39 package (which has a 1/3-in. diameter) with a flat hermetic window.
