A 4k ¥ 4k CCD camera can capture frames in less than 4 s. The camera, made in conjunction with Alt Systems (Hollywood, CA) using a CCD chip made by Kodak, combines the 16 Mpixel image capture and a 5-MHz pixel rate with 12-bit readout to computer memory. Applications include low-light imaging, topographic, oceanographic, or military large-area imaging.
