Live fiber detector

July 1, 1995
A field-portable instrument for identifying live and unused fibers, the LFD-100 Universal Live Fiber Detector indicates both the core power level and direction of light in a fiber. A safe macrobending approach avoids fiber damage or service interruption. The head adapts to 250-mm coated fibers, 900-mm tight-buffered fibers, or 3-mm jacketed test jumpers or patch cords. The 250-mm setting can also be used for 12-fiber ribbon cable. Power is displayed as an absolute measurement to within ۬ dB
