Silicon photomultipliers from First Sensor are immune to magnetic fields

Nov. 30, 2015
A line of solid-state silicon photomultipliers can detect low-light levels down to single photons.

A line of solid-state silicon photomultipliers can detect low-light levels down to single photons. The SiPM-NUV version has peak sensitivity at 420 nm and the SiPM-RGB at 550 nm. Gain is > 106 and afterpulsing probability is typically < 4%. Edgeless dies ensure high cell fill-factors and maximized active areas. They are immune to magnetic fields.
