Opto Speed is a developer and manufacturer of innovative Indium Phosphide based opto-electronic components. The company has extensive experience in processing III-V compounds and is a driving force in the trend toward the monolithic integration of optical components.

Opto Speed was founded in 1995 as a spinoff from the Institute of Quantum Electronics at the ETH in Zurich and has established itself as an important player in the market and, from a European base, has achieved significant sales in the United States, Europe and Asia. Opto Speed boasts a diverse customer base that includes industry leaders. In addition, it supplies to many next generation optical subsystem vendors, as well as test & measurement companies.

Opto Speed offers transceiver manufacturers a complementary set of 2.5Gb/s, 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s photodetectors, Fabry Perot and DFB lasers at both 1300nm and 1550nm wavelengths as well as 1300nm and 1550nm Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers. Opto Speed also designs and manufactures high power, high bandwidth Superluminescent LEDs for applications in communications as well as the medical, lighting and also test and measurement sectors. Finally, Opto Speed has developed an Optical Front End, which combines a 40Gb/s photodiode with electronic transimpedance and postamplifiers with differential output monolithically integrated on a single InP chip. The integrated Optical Front End is one of the first commercially available monolithically integrated optical components and is currently being tested by several potential customers.

Opto Speed is a developer and manufacturer of innovative Indium Phosphide (InP) based opto-electronic components. It is established since 1995 and has more than 20 years of experience in InP technology and product design as a transfer from ETH Zurich and Deutsche Telekom Optoelectronic Group. Opto Speed offers a comprehensive suite of high-speed products such as lasers, photodetectors, optical-front-ends, SOA's and superluminescent diodes, designed to support 2.5, 10 and 40 Gb/s applications within communications networks.
