Tring, Herts., UK, May 2, 2002 -- The IMACON 540 is a versatile x-ray streak camera providing state-of-the-art performance and operational versatility on very fast transient events in the laser fusion and plasma research fields.

The camera has been optimised to give better than 5 picosecond time resolution at 1.0 KeV input energy. The single shot streak camera has a large photocathode providing the high spatial resolution required for time resolved x-ray spectroscopy. The IMACON 540 may also be used for stand-alone vacuum-UV recording.

Through selection of cathode material the spectral range of operation of the IMACON 540 extends from 40 eV to greater than 10 KeV. The rugged and reliable IMACON 540 incorporates an integral vacuum pump to ensure optimal conditions throughout its range of operation. Interchangeable ramp generators provide for longer time windows for streak recording of slower events.

The IMACON 540 may be used with conventional film or coupled to a CCD based readout system such as the DRS Hadland 2DPC Mk II. The 1280 x 1024 pixel 12-bit CCD sensor in the 2DPC Mk II, is fibre optically coupled to the streak tube / intensifier to maximise the time window, whilst maintaining optimal spatial resolution and minimum cross-talk.

User friendly Windows compatible software provides a suite of image analysis capabilities and monitoring of all camera functions via an optional RS232 link.
