Waltham MA, February 25, 2003. CyOptics has acquired the optical component packaging capabilities of CENiX Inc, a supplier of automated assembly and test for optoelectronic subsystems. The purchase includes the component package design technology and automated manufacturing capability based in Allentown, PA.
CENiX Inc., founded in June 2000, has developed a proprietary state of the art automated manufacturing facility that leverages intelligent software and ultra-high precision hardware for low-cost and uniform production of optoelectronic components of over 10,000 components per month.
In acquiring the new packaging factory, CyOptics gains the ability to provide a wide selection of components, including cooled and uncooled DFB lasers, electro-absorption modulated lasers (EML's), and PIN and APD receivers. In addition, CyOptics can supply customized parts for high volume applications, including lasers and detectors for small form factor transponders and transceivers.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The purchase includes the acquisition of all capital equipment, inventory and intellectual property in the CENiX package development and manufacturing facility in Allentown, PA.In addition, CyOptics has hired the core manufacturing technical team of CENiX. CENiX retains the optoelectronic subsystem design and intellectual property assets that are part of the Irvine, CA operation.
