Video demos prototype flexible wrist-wrapped OLED display from Plastic Logic
In an early result from the collaboration announced February 6, 2014 between flexible-display maker Plastic Logic (Cambridge, England) and organic-LED (OLED) producer Novaled (Dresden, Germany), Plastic Logic has released a video showing its prototype flexible OLED display.
The video-rate display is aimed at wearables such as smartwatches and at other portable devices as well—anywhere a large display could be rolled out from a small device. The pictured prototype OLED display is monochrome, but colors are coming soon, says Plastic Logic.
Plastic Logic has amassed considerable experience already in making, for example, flexible transistors, so the jump to OLED is made easier for the company.
Plastic Logic's YouTube video (see below) has only limited views of the new display, but one of the views is at about 2 minutes and 30 seconds in, where a video is playing on a flexible display wrapped around someone's wrist.
