PRESS RELEASE

PHOTONIS Introduces xSCELL Digital Scientific Camera

1000 Frames per Second Ideal for High-Speed, Low-Light Imaging Requirements

Lancaster, PA – PHOTONIS USA, a leading manufacturer of imaging components for scientific and medical technologies, announces the introduction of its new xSCELL Digital Scientific Camera. xSCELL is designed to address the unique combination of high-speed imaging, low light levels and low dark noise requirements, such as in fluorescence imaging, spinning disk confocal microscopy, high throughput screening and gene sequencing. The product will be showcased at the American Society for Cell Biology in Denver, CO, December 3-7, 2011.

The xSCELL Digital Scientific Camera is a unique high-performance scientific camera which features 1000 frames per second (fps) at a resolution of 1024 x 1024, while providing readout noise of less than 2 e- rms and quantum efficiency of 65%. xSCELL offers flexible readout modes, in-camera processing and true pixel binning as part of its standard package.

PHOTONIS’ Director of Imaging Products, Marc D. Neglia, commented, “At 1000 fps, the xSCELL camera provides a long awaited breakthrough in molecular biology. Researchers currently utilizing common super-resolution microscopy techniques, such as PALM and STORM, will now be able to spend much less time acquiring data and more time analyzing.”

The xSCELL camera is powered by InXite™ technology, a proprietary CMOS-based technology which brings greater speed and clarity to scientific imaging. InXite™ delivers data at a high dynamic range up to 14 bits, and is cooled internally to -30°C to render the effects of dark noise to negligible levels. InXite™ technology is available exclusively from PHOTONIS. Read more about the xSCELL camera at www.xscellcamera.com.
