Ultrafast InGaAs photodetector has high gain, low noise factor

Dec. 2, 2009
Amplification Technologies has begun shipment of its TEC-cooled InGaAs solid-state photomultipliers. These detectors feature gain better than 100,000, noise factor less than 1.1, response time better than 500 ps, with photon counting capability at room temperature.

These detectors feature gain better than 100,000, noise factor less than 1.1, response time better than 500 ps, with photon counting capability at room temperature. Unlike conventional GM-APDs, these detectors do not need an external quenching circuit and operate in a nongated continuous mode. The technology realizes the future creation of linear and 2-D arrays that combine: *high gain, *low-noise factor and *high-speed operation using conventional semiconductor fabrication techniques. Single-channel devices (200 µm, 7 µm active area) in TO5 or TE-cooled TO8 packages and modules, are available.

PRESS RELEASE

Manufacturer : Amplification Technologies Inc.
Product : High gain, low noise factor, ultrafast InGaAs photodetector
Description : Amplification Technologies has commenced shipment of their TEC cooled InGaAs solid state photomultipliers. These detectors feature gain >100,000, noise factor <1.1, response time <500 ps, with photon counting capability at room temperature. Unlike conventional GM-APDs, these detectors do not need an external quenching circuit and operate in a non-gated continuous mode. The technology realizes the future creation of linear and 2D arrays that combine: *high gain, *low-noise factor and *high-speed operation using conventional semiconductor fabrication techniques. Single channel devices (200 micron, 7 micron active area) in TO5 or TEC-cooled TO8 packages and modules, are available.
