High Speed Electro-Optics Polarization Controller-Scrambler

May 20, 2021

OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic products for existing and next-generation optical networks, is expanding the polarization controller-scrambler product family. OZ Optics now offers a high speed Electro-Optics Polarization Controller (EOPC) that provides continuous polarization control in a motionless, compact 14 pin butterfly package.

OZ Optics' High Speed Electro-Optic Polarization Controller (EOPC) is based on a novel, low-loss high speed free space Electro-Optic crystal technology. It provides a simple, efficient means to quickly manipulate the state of polarization by applying an external voltage. The device can be offered with 2, 3 or 4 independent channels. The built-in Electro-Optics crystal response time is less than < 10 us with proper external voltage applied. The controller's rapid response speed easily handles changes in polarization caused by the external environment, and is highly suitable for polarization controlling and scrambling to either average Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) and Polarization Dependent Gain (PDG) effects, or for making Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), Degree of Polarization (DOP) or PDL measurements. This makes it ideal for precise test and measurement applications.

Custom versions for other wavelengths bands, OEM modules with driver electronics and control interface, or stand-alone benchtop test instruments can be produced on demand. For detailed specifications and additional information about this and other products, visit www.ozoptics.com.
