Innovators Awards now taking entries, recognizing cutting-edge photonics solutions

May 6, 2020
2020 Innovators Awards will call-out developers of the most influential enabling technologies for photonics applications.

Laser Focus World has launched the 2020 Innovators Awards program to recognize the most innovative lasers, optics, and photonics technology, products, systems, and applications that solve design challenges with real solutions.

Awards will be presented to organizations that demonstrate excellence in new product development or that utilize an existing product in a unique application. Designers, integrators, and users of laser, optics, and photonics systems may nominate their own projects or applications, or integrators or distributors that supplied products or systems can nominate exceptional projects for consideration.

If you know of an application worthy of consideration, but the user organization requires anonymity or non-disclosure, your entry can refer to the user organization in general rather than specific terms.

The Laser Focus World Innovators Awards will call-out developers of the most influential enabling products, technologies, and applications for photonics applications. Enabling technologies are developed or discovered that actually solve design problems. Often these enabling technology solutions solve problems for which there was no known solution before, or which were particularly difficult.

Categories are additive manufacturing; bio-optics; detectors and imaging; fiber optics; industrial laser systems; lasers and sources; manufacturing equipment for photonic components; optics; positioning, support, and accessories; research applications and case studies; software; spectroscopy; and test and measurement.

Nominations for design solutions in the Innovators Awards can represent simple or complex solutions, or anything in-between. Nominations should state the design challenge, describe the innovative technology, and explain how the technology solved a design problem.

Technologies don't have to be new products; they can have been developed over the past several years, and are in contemporary designs no more than a couple of years old.
