4D Technology appoints new general manager

Interferometry products developer 4D Technology has appointed Erik Novak, Ph.D., as its general manager.

Interferometry products developer 4D Technology (Tucson, AZ; an Onto Innovation subsidiary) has appointed Erik Novak, Ph.D., as its general manager, succeeding James Millerd, Ph.D., co-founder and past CTO and president of 4D Technology, who is retiring after 18 years with the company. Novak served as the Director of Business Development for the company for the past eight years.

On Novak’s appointment, Millerd remarked, “Erik is a recognized expert in optical metrology and since joining 4D has made a significant positive impact, propelling our market strategy and product innovation in new directions.”  

4D Technology offers products for optical manufacturers and industrial parts measurement, while Onto Innovation’s process control offerings include un-patterned wafer quality; 3D metrology that spans chip features from nanometer-scale transistors to large die interconnects; macro defect inspection of wafers and packages; metal interconnect composition; factory analytics; and lithography for advanced semiconductor packaging.
