AMP establishes fiberoptic cable division
Adding a fifth business unit to its Global Optical Interconnection Systems (GOIS) group, AM¥Inc. (Harrisburg, PA) has announced the formation of the Optical Fiber Cable division. The new division will manufacture fiberoptic cable for network, OEM, telecommunications, and cable-television applications. An AM¥cable-manufacturing plant is currently under construction in Greensboro, NC; the facility is slated to go on-line by the end of 1996. The company`s other GOIS divisions include Active Optoelectronic Devices, Passive Products, Fiber Optic Interconnections, and Fiber Management Systems. AM¥reported sales of $5.2 billion during FY1995.
