Fujitsu opens New York R&D center
In a move designed to take advantage of the technical resources of the Hudson Valley, Fujitsu Network Transmission Systems Inc. (Richardson, TX) has opened a 35,000-sq ft research and development center in Pearl River, NY. Over the next five years, the Northeast Development Center will expand to roughly 250 engineers and staff members; recruitment is currently underway. The center will focus on advanced network management, optical transport, and broadband-video-systems development. Along with a planned 131,000-sq ft expansion of Fujitsu`s existing Richardson facility, the center will allow the company to serve the expanding market for fiberoptic transmission products while reducing the time required to move from device prototype to commercialization.
