Wavelength-division multiplexer

May 1, 1996
High-power wavelength-division multiplexers (WDMs) combine either 980- and 1550-nm light or 1300- and 1500-nm light at powers as high as 3 W. The WDMs offer insertion losses as low as 0.7 dB, back-reflections of less than -60 dB, and isolation levels of less than -60 dB. Different fiber types can be used for the input and output of the WDMs, which can be especially useful for fiber amplifier applications.
